And Then One Time, Her Head Exploded

My play actually went off without a hitch; however, during the rehearsal I thought that the ticking in my eye was really the countdown to when my head would explode. I could feel the pulsing a the corner of my eye and as the pulsing continued, the muscles at the base of my neck gathered and clenched, creating a unique stiffness that transitioned from my neck down my shoulders to the small of my back.

Stress.

Serious stress.

The rehearsal was full of kids ad-libbing their lines, poking the person sitting next to them, making as much noise as they could when other students were speaking, jumping off the desks, and running up and down where they were to walk and just really trying to make my head pop like a giant tomato. I know it would have ruined the carpet; even the school industrialized carpet that is mean to last nine lifetimes,64 paints spills, 15 glitter glue tragedies, four traumatic nosebleeds, several wetting of the pants, and 30 “Oh my gosh, I’m going to puke” incidents.

So, I still hurt down my back and through my skull area. I took some Advil that Amy swiped from the Nurse’s office. I ate some french fries; the all encompassing comfort food. Too bad we do not have a ZIPS close by. I could use some good tarter sauce to go with them.

THen my head can explode as I am sated with salt and grease.

Good times indeed.
